Good friends and good times

Yesterday was an interesting and powerful day. I had a graveside service in the afternoon for a gentleman who had passed away in February. In the morning, our family had the privilege to attend and stand up with friends of ours (Kevin and Stacey), who had their beautiful little girl dedicated to God. The day brought into reality - life and death. Each of us is born to die, I remember a friend saying to me once - what a concept! Here was this little girl, so full of potential, so full of opportunity, and here was this man, dead after a life of 80 plus years. It reminded me, that we should not take any day for granted, because we do not know what each day contains.
The reality of life can be summarized by the Psalmist who said, "give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; His love endures forever." I am glad that God's love does endure forever - I know that I have felt God's love in some very trying times in my life. I am so glad that God is there when I need him. I am also thankful that God has created community. It was so good to see some of our friends yesterday, many of whom we do not get to see on a regular basis. It was good to be with each other, to celebrate together and to worship together. You do not always realize how much you miss people until you get to see them again. I use to have so much fun hanging out with Kevin and Shane - I miss that. I guess that I have become closed to protect myself and my family.
I recognize it, which I think is good, but I am also trying to work on it before we arrive in Lacombe. Anyways, I guess what I am saying is that I think community in my life is essential and God has created me for it, and yesterday it was great to experience it.
Onto some other things. Oiler fever is getting high and I am definitely cheering for Carolina - I cannot stand and/or ever cheer for any Buffalo teams - not now and not ever!!!!
I am off to the soccer pitch tonight for a game in the rain - yuck! I will have the important results tomorrow as well as an update on the move to Lacombe.
Have a good one.
Steven
