Living in Thankfulness
I am learning more and more each and every day about thankfulness - not that I did not know it before, but I believe that I know more about what I need in my life and how to be truly thankful for those people and things.
Though I may not much in possessions of the world, I have much to be thankful for. I am married to a loving, beautiful, smart, talented, wise woman who is a fantastic mom. Colleen and I have been married for 19 years and although not always perfect, we are still together and love each other. I meet many unhappy people, who do not want to be with their spouse, I can honestly say that I love to be with my wife, to laugh, play and share life together.
Colleen and I are blessed with two boys who are smart, fun, loving, generous, gentle and athletic. They make me laugh and watching them grow up more and more everyday is fun, but also sad knowing that their time living in our house is getting shorter and shorter all the time. We have what we need - a house, a vehicle, clothes on our back and food on our table.
Thankfulness is often ignored because we look at life and think our lives are half empty because of the things we do not have. There are a lot of things that I wish that I could do for my family, that I cannot at this moment - I am learning to be okay with that, because what we do have is a loving family who likes to be and laugh together, who enjoy the simple pleasures in life and do not have to be spoiled. That is what I call real living.
We have been blessed with wise and loving parents, friends in Ontario, Saskatchewan and Alberta and a God who loves us and with us all the time regardless of circumstance. Thank you God for what you teach me every day, may I live according to it and may my life make a difference in our family and in the world today, and may I live today and each day with a deep understanding and appreciation of all that you have given our family and may I be thankful.
